Shoulders-Royster is FCS Principal of Year, 2019-2020

Franklin County Early College High School Principal Erica Shoulders-Royster was named Principal of the Year for 2019-2020 during an October 25th surprise recognition with her students, family and district officials.

Shoulders-Royster was nominated for the recognition, which comes with $1,500 check, by her peers and Franklin County Schools’ district leadership. She was interviewed by a panel and also evaluated based on the scores related to school academic performance and growth.

“Franklin County’s Early College High School is an A school,” said Dr. Rhonda Schuhler, Superintendent of Franklin County Schools. “Erica’s leadership style helps raise the bar in classrooms in ways that inspire students to achieve. She is a prime example of a caring educator who builds and maintains positive relationships with teachers, staff and students. The results show that Erica Shoulders-Royster is a key component of the successful formula at ECHS.”

Shoulders-Royster is now eligible to compete for the regional Principal of the Year Award, as well as potentially the North Carolina Teacher of the Year Award.
