Weather Message 1.29.26

Due to continued hazardous road conditions resulting from the recent winter storm, Franklin County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 30th, for all staff and students.

We are still seeing a significant amount of ice on state-maintained and secondary roads across the county. These conditions create unsafe travel for our bus drivers, staff, and student drivers. While our teams have worked diligently to check road conditions and apply ice melt at school facilities where possible, there remain areas that are extremely dangerous.

The safety of our staff, students, and families is always our top priority.

In anticipation of additional inclement weather this weekend, we have chosen not to exhaust all remaining remote learning days, should they be needed later in the school year. School districts are issued five Remote Learning days per school year and we have used three thus far.

As a result of this week’s closures and remote learning days, the early release day on Thursday, February 12th, and the teacher workday on Friday, February 13th, will be converted into full regular school days for students.

Additionally, all facility usage and rentals scheduled for this weekend are cancelled.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety and security of all Franklin County Schools students, staff, and families.
