4th Semi-Annual Parent Summit: The Power of Family
Franklin County Schools Celebrates the Power of Parental Engagement at the 4th Semi-Annual Parent Summit
Franklin County Schools hosted its 4th Semi-Annual Parent Summit on September 17, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, NC. This event, which saw 67 community members, including parents, principals, district leadership, and Board of Education members, was a powerful testament to the district's commitment to nurturing family engagement in education.
The summit featured insightful discussions focusing on the importance of parent engagement in enriching students' educational experiences and strengthening the community.
We also shared a heartwarming video highlighting why parental involvement is crucial for our district. The video message captures our belief in the power of family, showcasing how every parent's involvement and every teacher's guidance can shape a prosperous future for our students. With initiatives like the Parent & Family Engagement Policy and the Parents Guide to Student Achievement, Franklin County Schools is committed to empowering families to play an active role in their children's education.
Looking ahead, the summit sparked valuable conversations about Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, with potential plans to expand discussions on this topic. Ensuring parents and guardians are informed about the various opportunities and resources available to them and their students remains a top priority. We are continually seeking ways to better support our school community, and the feedback received from the summit will be instrumental in guiding us as we focus on critical areas and plan for future summits.
Thank you to all who participated and contributed to making this event a success. Together, we continue to build a brighter future for all Franklin County Schools students.

Accreditation Survey
Every five years, Franklin County Schools seeks district re-accreditation from Cognia, a national accrediting agency. This process allows the district to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. One component of the process is gathering data from stakeholders (parents, staff, and students) to get their opinions on how Franklin County Schools supports teaching and learning.
Beginning on September 30, all grades 5-12 students will be asked to complete a short survey on their school experience. Please rest assured that the survey is designed to be completely confidential, with the only identifying information collected being the school name. The survey will be open for one week and the results will be analyzed and included in our final report to the accrediting agency. The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Lela Nichols, Chief of Academics (lelanichols@fcschools.net).
Careers on Wheels
Do you have a career that involves a vehicle with wheels? We're seeking community partners to participate in our 5th Grade second annual Careers On Wheels Event on October 24, from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at the new Louisburg Magnet High School Athletic Football Stadium parking lot.
Careers On Wheels presents an exciting opportunity for our students to explore various professions up close. This event is about showcasing vehicles and igniting our students' interest in potential career paths they may not have previously considered, helping them envision their future possibilities.
Showcase your vehicle - whether it's a tractor, a commercial vehicle, or anything in between - and inspire our students by sharing your profession with them. Please complete the 5th Grade Careers on Wheels commitment form to join us.
