SECU Reality of Money
We are excited to announce an upcoming series of SECU Reality of Money Simulation Fairs at each of our high schools. These events are a vital part of our Career Development Continuum, aimed at promoting financial literacy among our students.
Each high school will host a fair, providing a hands-on learning experience for all 12th-grade students. This initiative is an extension of the high school Economics and Personal Finance course, fulfilling the state's financial literacy graduation requirement.
To ensure the success of these fairs, we need 30-40 volunteers at each high school. We strongly encourage parents and community members to participate in this enriching experience.
Please note that all volunteers must be approved in Volunteer Tracker before signing up. Please complete the volunteer form here.
Here are the dates and locations for the fairs:
- Franklinton High School: March 5, 2024, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- Louisburg Magnet High School/Early College High School: March 19, 2024, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- Bunn High School: April 23, 2024; 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Additionally, all 8th graders in our middle schools will have the opportunity to attend an SECU Reality of Money classroom presentation this spring.
We are proud to partner with the State Employee Credit Union (SECU), CIVIC Federal Credit Union, and the Local Government Credit Union (LGFCU) to bring these valuable financial literacy experiences to our students.
Thank you for your support in making financial literacy a priority in our community. We look forward to your participation.
