    Mrs. Williams has lived in California, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Virginia, and North Carolina. Prior to entering the education field she served 10 years in the Navy. She visited other countries as part of her service including Thailand, Dubai, and Singapore. She served on three ships including the USS Nimitz during the Iraq War.

    After honorably discharged from military service, Mrs. Williams earned an Associates’ Degree in Web Technologies from Vance Granville Community College. She then went on to ECU and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems. Afterwards, she worked at a local plumbing company for three years before beginning the lateral entry process to teach exceptional children. This is her fifth year at FMS,

    Mrs. Williams lives in Granville county with her husband, two children, and five pets. She enjoys spending time with her family,  playing video games, watching anime or reading manga, and doing her nails in her spare time.

    Mrs. Valerie Hawthorne is from Mississippi. She graduated from William Carey University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and Teaching. Mrs. Hawthorne is certified in Social Studies in grades SS 6-12 & in AIG grades k-12. She is also Nationally Board certified. Mrs. Hawthorne has 16 years experience in education. Mrs. Hawthorne currently lives in Franklin County. She is married with two young children and enjoys caring for her family. Hobbies include gardening, graphic design, and kayaking.
