Ms. Mary Moore

As the school counselor at FMS, I'm passionate about helping students understand their ability to grow academically and socially.  Using Solution Focused Counseling, I help children deal positively with challenges in their daily lives so they can be ready to learn in the classroom.  It is important for me to help my students be curios about their world, learn acceptable ways to interact with others, and develop plans for school and for life after school.  Every one of our students has the ability to make positive changes in the world.  To prepare them to do that, I give my students the tools to gain a positive sense of self, the ability to think for themselves, and the desire to treat everyone with kindness and respect.   "Careful the things you say, children will listen. Careful the things you do, children will see, and learn." ~The Witch from Into the Woods.

I have a BA in Psychology from Univ. of South Florida, and a MA in Counselor Education from Florida Gulf Coast University.  Before I became a school counselor in 2003, I worked in social services as a family services counselor.  I’m grateful to be close to my kids and grandkids, and the time we all get to spend together.  I also enjoy gardening, reading, knitting, traveling, genealogy, badminton, musical theater, and an occasional Springsteen concert!  I'm also writing manuscripts for a series of children's books that teach young children, and their parents, positive social skills.
