Hannah Bethea

Hannah Bethea is a product of Franklin County Schools and has been a teacher at Franklinton Elementary for 11 years. She is so excited to embark on a new adventure this year as an Instructional Coach. Hannah is a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Elementary Education and a Reading Licensure. She is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Literacy. She has been honored twice by Franklinton Elementary as Teacher of the Year. She was also blessed further to be selected as Franklin County Teacher of the Year in 2018. Last year, she graduated with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Queens University in Charlotte. Hannah loves the Franklinton community and feels at home here. Hannah looks forward to working closely with the staff and students at FES.

Leslie Pope

Instructional Technology Facilitator

Leslie Pope is an Instructional Technology Facilitator who serves four elementary schools in the district. Before serving in this role, she has been a classroom teacher, instructional coach, STEAM Specialist, and Digital Literacy Coach. At the heart of everything she teaches is a link to instill the love of reading and technology to all students. Mrs. Pope recently graduated with a Master of Library Science from Appalachian State University. Being the life-long learner that she is, she is a Google Certified Trainer, a certified reading, Special Education, and AIG Specialist, Flipgrid Ambassador, and NCDLCN Mentor. She has also served as a Digital Learning Competency and Digital Content Digital Ambassador through NCDPI. Outside of school, she and her husband stay busy with their twelve-year-old triplets and three pugs. She loves to read, travel anywhere and everywhere, and goes to Atlantic Beach, NC frequently.

Miss. Shields has worked at Franklinton Elementary School, since November of 1991. She has seen a lot of changes since beginning at Franklinton Elementary School. When Miss. Shields first began at Franklinton Elementary School, it was Franklinton City Schools and Franklin County Schools. The two school systems merged. It was a positive transition for everyone. Miss. Shields has worked for various schools in Franklin County. They include Franklinton Middle School, Franklinton High School, Cedar Creek Middle School, Terrill Lane Middle School, Louisburg High School, Edward Best Elementary School, and Goldsand Elementary School. It has been a pleasure to work with teachers from all over Franklin County. Her greatest reward has been the development of each studentś ability to improve their communication skills. She has worked with some students and later worked with their children. It has been a blessing for Miss. Shields, to have worked in the Franklinton City Schools and the Franklin County Schools.
