Ms. Pace

Ms.Gina Pace is a graduate of Liberty University. There she earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education with a minor in autism. She is working towards a Master of Arts in Teaching Special Education and will complete the program next spring. Ms. Pace is a native of southern New Jersey but moved to North Carolina last February to join the Laurel Mill family. Although this will be her first complete year as a teacher, Ms. Pace has had the opportunity to work with students with special needs for over 3 years in the classroom setting. She is actively involved in a social movement for disability awareness and acceptance called “3E Love,” that spreads the message to Embrace diversity, Educate your community, Empower each other, and Love life.

Mrs. Sledge

Mrs. Kim Sledge  is a graduate of Appalachian State University. There she earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Language Pathology.  In 1982, Mrs. Sledge earned a Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  Her educational career has extended over 37 years, giving her opportunities such as teaming and networking with a variety of educational and clinical professionals, attending and participating in national conferences and working with children and young adults to increase their communication skills.  Mrs. Sledge enjoys collecting sea glass while walking on the beach, reading, and going to sports events with her family.

Mrs. Edwards

Mrs. Melissa Edwards graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She continued her studies at Appalachian earning her Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a Reading K-12 Certification. After several years of teaching, Mrs. Edwards also added an AIG certification. After teaching 17 years of Kindergarten and 1 year of 1st grade at Edward Best Elementary, Mrs. Edwards became the AIG Resource teacher at Edward Best Elementary. Beginning in 2017, Mrs. Edwards serves 2 schools, Edward Best Elementary and Laurel Mill Elementary as the AIG Resource Teacher.
