Mr. Sean Bachand

Mr. Bachand has been proudly calling North Carolina home for since 2010. With a passion for all of "The Arts," - music, theater, visual, and literary, he has earned a Bachelor degree from University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and teaching certification from NC State. He has been part of the Franklin County School family of professional educators since 2012. In addition to teaching English and Composition, he also has served as the advisor for the Franklinton High School Yearbook team for the last two years.

Mrs. Ashley Bauer

Mrs. Bauer has been teaching for 8 years, and has coached for 10 years at the high school level. She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor's degree with a double major in Secondary Education and English, as well as a double minor in Religous Studies and Business Management. She has previously taught and coached in Guilford and Caswell County Schools, and continues to coach the Lady Rams Softball team at FHS, and co-sponsors Red Ram Mentors!

Mrs. Natalie Clark

Ms. Clark began her teaching career in Blackburg, Virginia. She is an avid Virginia Tech Hokies fan! She moved to North Carolina in 2004 to continue her love for teaching. She believes that making strong connections and building trust in the classroom increases student success. One of her favorite quotes is, “To the world, you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world.” Dr. Seuss.

Mr. Russell Jackson

Mr. Jackson has taught literature for FHS since 2005. He recieved a BA in Philosophy & Religion from Shorter University and a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Mr. David Jennings

Mr. Jennings is originally from Coraopolis, PA and is a proud US Navy and Operation Desert Storm veteran. He graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Humanities (Secondary English Education) and has been in North Carolina since 1998.

Ms. Deby Jizi

Ms. Jizi is a native of North Carolina and a graduate of UNC Charlotte where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in English. She went on to earn her Master of Education degree at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.  She has taught in the primary grades, upper elementary, middle school, high school, community college, and at her alma mater, UNC Charlotte, as a First-Year Writing lecturer. She is a National Writing Project Teacher-Leader. Her passions are writing and poetry and finding ways to help students connect to both.

Mrs. Miller

Mrs. Miller is an experienced teacher from right here in Franklin County. She received her bachelor's from the University of Mount Olive with a degree in Secondary English Education. She also has her master's  from Gardner-Webb University in English with a concentration in Writing Studies. She has previously taught at Louisburg High School and Southern Wayne County. Mrs. Miller loves the English language and helping students to grow to love reading.

Mrs. Kerry Olivieri

Department Chair

Mrs. Olivieri has been teaching for 24 years. She taught middle school language arts and worked as a Reading Specialist and Reading Recovery teacher before she began teaching at Franklinton High School in 2006. Mrs. Olivieri is a National Board Certified (ELA-Adolescent and Young Adult) teacher. She earned her undergraduate degree in English with minors in Writing and Children's Literature from Central Connecticut State University, her teaching certification from East Carolina University, and her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in literacy from North Carolina State University. Mrs. Olivieri is the English Department chairperson. She co-sponsors the Project Unify and Relay for Life clubs, and she loves cheering her students on in all of their extra-curricular activities!

Mrs. Gwen Starr

Mrs. Starr is a native of Yonkers, NY. She is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a B.S. degree in Office Administration. In 2002, she received her Master of Art degree in Liberal Studies, concentration in Poetry from North Carolina State University.  Mrs. Starr has written several books including poetry and novels.  She joined the English Department in 2015 and currently teaches English I.
