I am a native of North Carolina and was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. My mother,
Mary, and her two brothers attended school right here in our building from the late 1930s
through 1965. I also attended school here for two years during the 80s so Franklinton Middle
feels very much like home. After graduating as my class Valedictorian from North Carolina
Central University with a degree in English, I went on to study International Peace and Conflict
Resolution at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro in pursuit of my Masters Degree.
However, family tragedy and a lingering desire to teach led me back home to Franklinton and
FMS. From 2008 – 2011 I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico and taught English as a Foreign
Language so while I’m no stranger to the classroom this is my first year teaching 7 th grade. So
far I truly love both teaching ELA and our very special students at FMS. In my “spare time” I
enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, reading, learning new things,
conducting research, writing, traveling, snuggling with my kitty and decorating! My favorite
sport is skydiving: having jumped from perfectly good aircraft fifty-two times it should come as
no surprise that I love working with middle school students as there is never a dull moment.

Born and raised in Wilmington, NC and a true native to North Carolina. Growing up, I attended high school in the port city where I took military JROTC classes for 4 years. After graduation, I attended North Carolina State University (GO PACK!) where I received my Bachelors of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries. In college, I loved working with students through my position as a Resident Advisor. Wanting to do more for the youth, I became a College Advisor through NC State after graduating with honors. In 2014, I made my way into Franklin County working with seniors and juniors at Franklinton and Louisburg High School. While advising students on how to transition from high school to college and military, I obtained my Masters Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration through the University of Concordia Irvine. After my two year contract ended, I continued working and transitioned into teaching for Franklin County. I was placed at Franklinton Middle to teach Science in 2016 and have been here ever since. On the side, I coach Volleyball, HS Swimming, and Softball as well as volunteer for Youngsville EMS as an Emergency Medical Technician.
