I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in elementary education. I am currently working towards my masters degree. This is my first year teaching and I am very excited. I am very interested in having your support and working as a team with your family in order to have a very successful school year. I understand that every child has different strengths and weaknesses in their learning process.  Therefore, I am committed to having differentiated instruction in my class with a variety of opportunities for my students’ to achieve their goals.

I am your child’s second grade teacher and I am delighted to have your child in my class this year. I am looking forward to a very successful year and I know you are too. I have high expectations for your child and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve those expectations.

Now, just a bit about my background. I have graduated from George Mason University, Indiana University, and East Carolina University. I have just renewed my National Board Certification as well. I am always on the lookout for good professional development opportunities, so if you see or hear of anything you feel may be beneficial, please let me know. I want to stay current and do the best job possible! I most recently taught reading remediation at Bunn Middle School and before that I taught at Bunn Elementary School, so Franklin County is home!

On a personal note, I am the last of nine children! I have a plethora of wonderful nephews and nieces. I love to spend time with them. I also enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures and places. I have also worked for a veterinary hospital and volunteered with rescue groups. I have one dog and one cat. They keep me entertained. Lastly, but yet VERY important, I need to make you aware of some of my allergies. I am highly allergic to scented items, such as perfume, cologne, candles, room sprays, lotions, soaps, hand sanitizer, etc. I ask that the parents and students do not wear or use them in my room. If I come into contact with them, I get asthma and migraines and consequently end up missing work!  I don’t like to miss school.

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. I am available every day to talk with you between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm at various points throughout the day. If I am unable to answer the phone, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. You may also email me at: juliewalsh@fcschools.net if you have any questions or concerns.
