Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Franklin County Board of Education (BOE) meetings are being held via video conferencing throughout the duration of the current stay-at-home restrictions. Board members, the board attorney, and central office staff will participate in BOE meetings through video conferencing technology. The meetings will be live streamed for the media and public to view.
The public also has the opportunity to submit public comment via email to Diane Marks, Clerk to the Board, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Comments must state "Public Comment" in the subject line and include the commentor's first and last name, as well as their address and phone number. The deadline for receipt of comments is 4 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Public comments are limited to three minutes and will be read during the Public Comment Section of the BOE meeting.

The Franklin County Board of Education holds its regular meetings on the second Monday of each month, unless otherwise advertised. The meetings are held at: Franklin County Schools, Central Office, Bldg. A, 53 W. River Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549. Meetings begin at 7:00 PM and visitors have the opportunity for public comment during each regular meeting.
Please submit public comment via email to dianemarks@fcschools by 4 p.m. on the date of the meeting. Make sure to include the commentor's first and last name, address, contact information and type "Public Comment" in the subject line of the email.
In accordance to Policy 2310, the board chairperson will recognize speakers in the order in which they signed in. Each speaker will receive three minutes to present comments; however, the public comment session will not exceed 30 minutes total except by majority vote of the board. If a speaker is unable to present all of his or her information within the specified time limit, the speaker may provide the board with the additional information in written form.
Please refrain from addressing specific employee or student concerns as a part of public comment. Concerns can be directed to district leadership as described in Policy 2310.
Board members will not respond to individuals who address the board except to request clarification of points made by the presenter. The board chairperson has the authority to speak on behalf of the board and to refer concerns to administration. Except in cases of emergency, information received during presentations will not be acted upon at the time it is received.
