Dr. Monica Headen is in her sixth year as principal of Long Mill Elementary. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at Youngsville Elementary and Bunn Middle. She has also been a middle school and high school teacher, but it is the elementary school level that brings her the greatest joy. She believes that creating a strong foundation for children is instrumental in their becoming all that they can be, and that’s what Long Mill strives to do. Along with the faculty and staff, Dr. Headen works to create an environment where children can feel safe while learning and growing.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from North Carolina State University (NCSU), a Master’s in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Doctorate in Education Administration and Supervision from NCSU. In her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling, and being active in her church. On breaks from school, she can usually be found somewhere near the ocean.
