It is such a privilege to be a part of the Franklin County Schools system, and I am blessed to be serving in my first year as principal of Franklinton Middle School.  My career in education began as a teacher at Cedar Creek Middle School in 2000, and has since included administrative roles as the assistant principal at Cedar Creek (1 year), Louisburg Elementary (2 years), and Franklinton High School (10 years).    I am honored to lead along with others as we seek to impact the lives of young people in such a noble calling.  I hold an Associate of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Bachelor of Arts in religion from the Divinity School of Campbell University, and a Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University.  I am married to Dottie Averette, who recently retired from FCS after teaching nearly thirty years in our district. We have two daughters and a son-in-law who also teach in Franklin County Schools. We are also the proud Honey and Pop-Pop of a grandson who at the time of this posting is 14 months old.  My love for the Franklinton, Franklin County community extends into other areas of service that provide opportunities to establish meaningful relationships with so many people.  So grateful to serve here at FMS.

    Ms. Heidi Boardman, Assistant Principal

I am proud and excited to be a part of the Franklinton Middle School family. Prior to becoming Assistant Principal at FMS, I earned my MSA degree through the Principal Fellows Program at NC State.

After moving to Wake Forest in 2012, I worked as an English Teacher and then as a Literacy Coach at East Wake High School, followed by an internship at Heritage Middle School in Wake County. My heart is and always has been about seeing the school and the people that fill it see success in every area and feel pride in what they have accomplished. I grew up and graduated from a small school in a small town in rural upstate New York. Franklinton Middle School feels like home, and I can’t wait to get to know all of you!

My husband and I have two sons, a daughter, two dogs, and two cats. One of the things that we enjoy the most about living in North Carolina is the beach life. We also love the weather, and most especially the people!
