    March 19th, 2021: Ellucian Donates PPE to Franklin County Schools

    For the last six weeks, the Unbuntu Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Ellucian, as a part of its Black History Service Project Initiative, has been collecting PPE for all 16 Franklin County Public Schools. They have collected over 8,000 masks, hand sanitizer, zip lock bags, gloves, and pencils to distribute to our schools.

    Mentor. Icon. Legend. These are terms that are synonymous with Coach Lester Wilder's legacy. How far did his legacy reach? Within a few hours of his passing, social media accounts were flooded with tributes to Coach Wilder, including personal stories bearing witness to his profound impact on students, staff, and community members throughout his 40+ years as a teacher and coach in Franklin County. By Sunday evening, news outlets such as The High School OT, Newsbreak, WRAL, and News and Observer were sharing his story and his legacy with an even larger audience. Franklin County Schools is indebted to Coach Wilder for his far-reaching contribution to our community, and we would like to take this opportunity to share a few reflections on his impact.

    The North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) has honored Franklin County Schools (FCS) for excellence in communications. FCS earned a total of four Blue Ribbon Awards for outstanding and effective communication.

    For Marla Mize, Kindergarten Teacher at Laurel Mill Elementary School, giving back is an innate part of her DNA. Her father was a local small business owner who helped provide families with vehicles, and her brother is known for organizing toy giveaways during the holiday season.
