Small Town. Big Heart. State Champions.

Small Town. Big Heart. State Champions.

Bunn may be a small town, but it is a community known for its pride, resilience, and unwavering support of its students. Throughout this historic season, the Wildcats carried the hopes of their school, their families, and their community onto the field, proving that greatness is not measured by size but by heart. With determination, discipline, and a belief in one another, they achieved something that will be remembered for generations to come.

The Bunn High School Wildcats made history Thursday afternoon, completing a two-game sweep of Burns High School to claim the 2026 NCHSAA 4A State Championship. Bunn secured the title with a 7-5 victory in Game 2 at the North Main Athletic Complex in Holly Springs after earning a 3-2 win in Game 1 on Wednesday.

The championship marks Bunn's first NCHSAA baseball state title since the Wildcats captured a state championship in 1979 and delivers one of the most memorable accomplishments in school athletics history.

Leading the way for the Wildcats was Caleb Johnson, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the 4A State Championship Series following his standout performance throughout the two-game sweep. Bunn finished the season with an impressive 26-3 record, showcasing the talent, perseverance, and teamwork that defined its championship run.

As former NBA champion coach Rudy Tomjanovich once said, "Never underestimate the heart of a champion." The 2026 Bunn Wildcats embodied that spirit every step of the way. Their state championship is more than a title—it is a testament to what can happen when a small town rallies behind a group of student-athletes with big dreams, high expectations, and an even bigger heart.

Congratulations to Head Coach Patrick Warren, the coaching staff, student-athletes, families, alumni, supporters, and the entire Bunn High School community on an unforgettable season and a well-earned NCHSAA 4A State Championship. The Wildcats have officially etched their names into school history.

Small Town. Big Heart. State Champions. Forever Wildcats. 🏆⚾
