NCDPI Leader Reads with Students at Youngsville Elementary for Read Across America Week

Dr. Michael Maher, Chief Accountability Officer with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, visited Youngsville Elementary School on March 2 to read with kindergarten students as part of Read Across America Week.

Dr. Maher spent time in the classroom sharing a story with students and encouraging a love of reading. His visit highlighted the importance of early literacy and the role that educators, families, and community partners play in helping students develop strong reading skills.

Read Across America Week is celebrated annually across the country to promote reading and inspire young learners to discover the joy of books. Activities throughout the week encourage students to build lifelong literacy habits and strengthen their academic foundations.

Franklin County Schools thanks Dr. Maher and the NCDPI team for taking time to visit our students and celebrate the power of reading.
