News Release: Louisburg Magnet High School Welcomes New Assistant Principal

Louisburg, NC – Franklin County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Larry K. Watson as the new Assistant Principal of Louisburg Magnet High School. With more than 30 years of experience in education, Mr. Watson brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion for student success to his new role.

Mr. Watson began his career in 1993 with the Macon County School System in Alabama, serving students as a transformational science teacher, Science Olympiad and Science Fair administrator, professional development presenter, science coach, and STEM grant recipient. For the past decade, he has served in Durham Public Schools and most recently worked as an assistant principal in the Alamance-Burlington School System.

In addition to his career in education, Mr. Watson is a servant-leader in his community, serving as minister of music at his local ministry. He resides in Raleigh, NC, and enjoys roller skating regularly.

Mr. Watson holds a B.S. in Biology/Chemistry and a M.Ed. in General Science Education (6–12) from Tuskegee University, along with a Master of School Administration from Gardner-Webb University.

“It is an honor to have been selected to serve as the new Assistant Principal at Louisburg Magnet High School,” said Mr. Watson. “This opportunity exceeds the boundaries of a new position and role—it is a calling. My leadership is grounded in the belief that student achievement is maximized when there is a culture of relationship building, respect, high expectations, consistency, and using data to drive instruction. I look forward to working with staff, students, and the community to ensure student safety and academic success remain the highest priorities.”

Franklin County Schools Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Schuhler expressed her excitement for Mr. Watson’s appointment, stating: “Mr. Watson’s deep experience as an educator and leader will be a tremendous asset to Louisburg Magnet High School. His commitment to building strong relationships, fostering a culture of collaboration, and keeping students at the center of every decision aligns perfectly with our district’s vision and goals. We are excited to welcome him to the Franklin County Schools family.”
