News Release: Long-Time Louisburg Community Pillar Named District Athletic Director

April 22nd, 2026

Louisburg, NC —Franklin County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Erica Wammock as the new District Athletic Director / Athletic Director for Louisburg Magnet High School, effective July 1st, 2026. This strategic leadership role is designed to strengthen, align, and grow athletic programs across the district.

A deeply rooted leader in the Louisburg community, Wammock brings nearly two decades of experience in education and athletics, including serving as Athletic Director at Louisburg Magnet High School since 2010. A Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) and 2024 North Carolina Athletic Director of Excellence recipient, she has built a legacy of excellence through program development, student-athlete success, and sustained competitive achievement.

“I’m truly grateful and excited for this opportunity to continue serving Louisburg while supporting athletics across the county,” said Wammock. “I look forward to working together with the Louisburg, Bunn, and Franklinton communities to grow and strengthen athletics across our county.”

This newly restructured position reflects Franklin County Schools’ commitment to providing consistent, high-quality athletic leadership for students in grades 6–12, while enhancing compliance, safety systems, and student access to participation.

In this dual role, Wammock will provide districtwide oversight of middle and high school athletics while continuing to lead the program at Louisburg Magnet High School. The position is administrative in nature, focused on leadership, coordination, and system-wide improvement, and excludes coaching responsibilities.

Superintendent Dr. Nakia Hardy emphasized the significance of this appointment as part of the district’s broader vision.

“As we continue Growing Forward Together, this is a moment where we are intentionally planting seeds for the future of athletics in Franklin County Schools,” said Dr. Hardy. “Erica Wammock’s leadership, experience, and deep connections to the Franklin County Schools community make her uniquely positioned to help us cultivate stronger systems, expand opportunities for students, and ensure our athletic programs thrive for years to come.”

Wammock’s extensive background includes leadership roles at the conference and state levels, multiple Coach of the Year recognitions, and the development of new athletic programs and opportunities for students. Her work has consistently emphasized access and excellence, aligning closely with the district’s goals.

The restructuring comes in response to the increasing complexity of athletic programs, including heightened compliance requirements, student safety expectations, and emerging areas such as Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). The role will centralize leadership to ensure consistency, accountability, and strategic growth across all schools. Additionally, this role will improve consistency in scheduling, eligibility, and operations, enhance communication with schools, families, and the community, and expand athletic opportunities through a stronger K–12 pipeline.

Franklin County Schools looks forward to the continued impact of Wammock’s leadership as the district works to grow, strengthen, and sustain athletic opportunities for all students.
