Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week: Supporting Our McKinney-Vento Families

Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week: Supporting Our McKinney-Vento Families

A heartfelt thank you to each Franklin County School that participated in the November food drive to support students experiencing homelessness across our district. Because of the generous support of our schools, district leadership, and community partners, the Community Cares Program successfully prepared 160 Extended Break Food Bags to support students and families over the upcoming Winter Break.

In addition to food support, families were also able to shop for and select donated gifts, clothing, laundry supplies, and personal care items, helping meet a variety of household needs during the holiday season.

This initiative was strengthened by the collective efforts of the Community Cares Team and valued community partners, including Louisburg Methodist Church, Grace Ministries, and the Interfaith Council of Franklin County, whose continued collaboration helps ensure students and families feel supported, valued, and cared for.

Looking Ahead:

The next Community Cares “packing party” will take place on March 31, 2026, in preparation for Spring Break. Those interested in donating food items or volunteering are encouraged to contact Lena Robertson at lenarobertson@fcschools.net
