Future Forward Career & College Fair Inspires Students Across Franklin County

Last week, Franklin County Schools hosted the Future Forward Career & College Fair at Franklinton High School, bringing together 11th and 12th-grade students from across the district for a morning of exploration, connection, and inspiration. The event featured participation from 52 colleges, local businesses, and community organizations.

Students had the opportunity to engage directly with college representatives, local employers, military branches, and community partners while exploring a wide range of postsecondary pathways. These conversations provided valuable insight into options available after graduation and helped students begin mapping out their next steps.

A new addition this year, the “Beyond High School” panel, offered students real-world perspectives from professionals representing diverse pathways, including entrepreneurship, military enlistment, apprenticeships, BiWork opportunities, short-term workforce training programs, and Job Corps. This session emphasized that there are multiple avenues to success beyond the traditional college route.

Students also participated in a “Building Your Brand” session focused on professional skills for job searching, networking, and interviewing. The session was led by Alan Barrier of Microsoft, who shared practical strategies to help students present themselves with confidence in competitive environments.

This event reflects Franklin County Schools’ ongoing commitment to preparing students for enrollment, employment, enlistment, and entrepreneurship—ensuring every student is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed for life beyond high school.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all of our community partners, college representatives, staff, and volunteers who made this experience meaningful and impactful for our students.

Together, we are helping students take confident steps toward their future.
