Franklin County Schools Names Heather Lane Assistant Principal of Franklinton High School

LOUISBURG, N.C. — Franklin County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Lane as Assistant Principal of Franklinton High School, promoting a longtime FCS educator and instructional leader to school administration.

Lane currently serves as a math teacher at Bunn High School, where she has taken on numerous instructional and school leadership responsibilities. Her experience includes serving as a School Improvement Team chair and member, leading professional learning communities, supporting master scheduling and registration, coordinating remediation initiatives, and using student performance data to strengthen instructional practices and student outcomes.

A product of Franklin County Schools herself, Lane now has the opportunity to continue serving the school system that helped shape her own educational journey.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the leadership team at Franklinton High School as the new Assistant Principal,” Lane said. “As a product of the Franklin County School system, I recognize the importance of making sure all students and staff members are supported so they can achieve their full potential. I look forward to working with the FHS community as we continue to grow together!”

In addition to her classroom and school-based leadership, Lane has served as a district AI Trailblazer, helping lead artificial intelligence integration and training initiatives across Franklin County Schools. She has also conducted peer observations and instructional walkthroughs and coached colleagues on strategies to strengthen family and community engagement.

Lane previously served as a Curriculum Coach and MTSS Coordinator at North Johnston High School. Earlier in her career, she taught mathematics at Louisburg High School, giving her experience across multiple high school communities in Franklin County.

“Heather brings a strong combination of instructional expertise, leadership experience, and a genuine connection to Franklin County Schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Nakia Hardy. “She understands our students, our schools, and our community. Just as importantly, she has demonstrated a commitment to supporting both students and educators so they can be successful. We are excited to see her take this next step in her leadership journey.”

Lane earned a Master of Arts in School Administration and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. Her areas of expertise include data analysis, curriculum development, remediation, scheduling, technology integration, and supporting diverse student populations.

As Assistant Principal, Lane will join the leadership team at Franklinton High School, where she will help support students and staff, strengthen instructional practices, foster a positive school culture, and advance the district’s commitment to academic excellence and student success.
