Franklin County Schools (FCS) is proud to announce that Dr. Joshua Griffin, Director of Testing and Accountability, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) Innovator Award. Dr. Griffin was honored at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC, on November 10th. This award is a testament to Dr. Griffin's exceptional contributions to mathematics education across North Carolina.
Dr. Griffin, a former high school mathematics teacher and now Director of Testing & Accountability for FCS, has been instrumental in bridging the gap between mathematics education and assessment design. His innovative approach and commitment to public instruction have not only enriched the Franklin County community but have also extended his influence statewide.
Under Dr. Griffin's leadership, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has seen significant advances in the development and implementation of mathematics assessments. He has been pivotal in ensuring that the NC Check-Ins are aligned with the Instructional Frameworks developed by dedicated NC teachers.
In addition to his work with NCDPI, Dr. Griffin has been an invaluable asset to the NC2ML community, contributing to creating instructional frameworks and enhancing the process of developing assessments. "We are immensely proud of Dr. Griffin's accomplishments and commitment to excellence in education.
