Louisburg, NC – Franklin County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. David C. Westbrook as the new principal of Franklinton High School. With over 25 years of experience in education, Dr. Westbrook brings a wealth of leadership expertise, a proven track record of student-centered success, and a deep commitment to school and community collaboration.

Dr. Westbrook most recently served as principal of Royal Elementary School, where he guided the school to exceed academic growth expectations for three consecutive years and led efforts that improved the overall performance grade by 10 points. Under his leadership, student attendance improved, discipline referrals declined dramatically, and teacher transitions were strategically managed to maximize instructional quality. These accomplishments earned him the honor of being named Franklin County Schools’ 2024–2025 Principal of the Year.

In addition to his leadership at Royal Elementary, Dr. Westbrook has served in a range of administrative roles, including principal at Carver Elementary School, interim principal and assistant principal at Henderson Middle School, and assistant principal and English teacher at Northern Vance High School. He is known for fostering positive school climates, driving academic improvement, and investing in staff development.

“I am excited for the chance to build on the long, excellent tradition at Franklinton High School,” said Dr. Westbrook. “Franklinton is a thriving and robust community that offers many opportunities for learners to grow into essential citizens, and it will be my privilege to serve them.”

Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Schuhler shared her enthusiasm for Dr. Westbrook’s leadership:

“Dr. Westbrook is a dedicated and visionary leader whose experience and values align perfectly with the mission of Franklinton High School. We are thrilled to welcome him into this new role and look forward to the continued growth and success of our students and staff under his leadership.”

Dr. Westbrook holds a Bachelor of Science in English Education from North Carolina Central University, a Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University.

Franklinton High School and Franklin County Schools proudly welcome Dr. Westbrook into this new chapter of leadership and excellence.
