News Release: FCS Welcomes New Assistant Principal to Franklinton Elementary School

Louisburg, NC – Ms. Cardwell brings a wealth of experience as an educator, instructional leader, and coach. Most recently, she has been serving as a Principal Resident at Youngsville Elementary School, where she engaged in a rigorous principal residency program to develop instructional expertise and educational leadership under the mentorship of an experienced principal mentor. In this role, she participated in critical leadership functions, facilitated professional learning communities, and designed a Student Ambassador program to foster school community and engagement.

Prior to her residency, Ms. Cardwell served as an MTSS Instructional Coach at Warren County Middle School, collaborating with teachers, administrators, and district leaders to design intervention frameworks, lead data-driven meetings, and strengthen instructional outcomes. Her background also includes several years of teaching mathematics at both the middle and high school levels, where she was recognized for creating engaging, multi-platform lessons and mentoring fellow educators as a department chair and school leadership team member.

Ms. Cardwell expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity: “I am honored and excited to join the incredibly talented team at Franklinton Elementary School. I look forward to supporting our students, families, and staff as we learn and grow together!”

Ms. Cardwell earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Davidson College and a Master of School Administration at North Carolina State University, where she was an NC Principal Fellow. She has also been accepted into the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program at NC State, with an expected graduation date in 2029.

Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Schuhler shared her excitement for the appointment: “Ms. Cardwell is a dedicated educator and leader whose strong instructional background and passion for student success make her an excellent fit for Franklinton Elementary School. Her experience as a teacher, coach, and leader will greatly benefit the students, staff, and community.”
