Louisburg, NC– Franklin County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of George "Christopher" Tyson as the new Director of Transportation. With over 27 years of experience in school bus transportation, management, and driver safety training, Tyson brings a wealth of expertise and a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of student transportation.

Throughout his career, Tyson has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication in managing personnel, materials, and vehicles to transport students safely. His background includes serving as a Program Coordinator with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he assessed and certified school bus drivers statewide and facilitated critical safety training programs.

"As the new Director of Pupil Transportation for Franklin County Public Schools, my goal is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of students to and from school each day," said Tyson. "I am committed to enhancing communication, streamlining operations, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence within our transportation services. Together with our dedicated team, I look forward to supporting the educational experience of our students through dependable and quality transportation."

Tyson holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and certifications in Driver Education Instruction and Secondary Education Social Studies. His track record of fostering safety, building relationships, and streamlining transportation operations positions him as a valuable asset to the Franklin County Schools community.
