Bunn Middle School Earns National Banner Unified Champion Schools Recognition

Bunn Middle School has made history as the first school in Franklin County to earn the prestigious National Banner Unified Champion Schools recognition through Special Olympics.

The banner was officially revealed during a ceremony held yesterday morning at Bunn Middle School, marking a proud and historic moment for the school community and Franklin County Schools.

This national honor is awarded to schools that meet 10 rigorous standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy, and school culture. Through its commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students, Bunn Middle School has demonstrated that inclusion is not just an initiative — it is part of the school’s identity.

A special congratulations goes to Stacie Madsen, Extended Content Standards Teacher, for her leadership and dedication in helping support this important work.

“This isn’t just an award; it is a testament to the students and staff at Bunn Middle School who have embraced and modeled what meaningful inclusion looks like every day,” the recognition reflects. “By achieving this distinction, BMS has shown that inclusion is not simply a goal — it is the standard.”

The National Banner recognition celebrates schools that successfully promote inclusive youth leadership, whole-school engagement, and opportunities for students of all abilities to learn and grow together.

Franklin County Schools proudly celebrates Bunn Middle School, its staff, students, and supporters for this outstanding accomplishment and for setting a new standard of excellence in inclusion across the district.
