Dr. Willyetta Mitchell
Hi, my name is Dr. Willyetta Mitchell, and I am ecstatic to be the STEM Coordinator at Louisburg High School. I am responsible for the development of the STEM Academy at Louisburg High School! Given that, I will be in classrooms and in the halls almost every day; I thought I would give you a little background about me.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and my Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Secondary Education from Xavier University of Louisiana. At North Carolina State University, I earned my Ph.D. in Science Education with a specialization in Physics. I have taught science at every level from Pre-K to graduate school. I also taught Math I, II, and III, Advanced Functions and Modeling, PreCalculus and AP Statistics.
I know that this will be a time of learning, especially for me. STEM Academy has the remarkable potential to develop life-long learners and produce forward thinkers that can make an impressive contribution to our society. The overall goal is to graduate all students ready for college, career, and life. No one rises to low expectations. Therefore, the strategy is simple: Everyday – we will AIM High! Armed with passion and purpose, I am challenged yet motivated to lead the school-based community and engage all stakeholders in the meeting the students where they are and taking them to where we want them to go strategically and urgently with a focus on continuous school improvement.
If you have any questions about the STEM Academy, you can direct them to me.
I look forward to working with you.
