Third graders are now soil experts, thanks to a lesson from Mr. Steve Stadelman, scientist from Novozymes. He visited the students on Earth Day, and he taught them about different types of soil. Students got their hands dirty as they learned how soil forms, how scientists around the world communicate about soil, and ways people can prevent damaging our Earth. One of the students' favorite activities was participating in a Soil Skit, where they pretended to be particles of silt, clay, and sand. Now they have a very clear understanding of how water, oxygen, and pollution travel through the soil. Many thanks to Mr. Stadelman for sharing his soil smarts!
