The Freshman Academy of Franklinton High School was established to help rising ninth graders in their transition to high school.  The long term goal of the academy is to increase the graduation rate among high school students.  The Academy seeks to improve student success by providing a structured atmosphere that emphasizes discipline and establishes high expectations for its students.  Our goal is to prepare students both academically and socially for the future.

The transition from middle school to high school can be difficult, and the Academy has established high expectations for its students.  For no child to be left behind, the parents, teachers, counselors, and administration must work closely together.  These groups share the following goals:

Freshman Academy Goals:

  • Empower teachers to develop, implement, and evaluate new strategies for enhancing student success

  • Instruct and model organization, time management, and study skills

  • Improve and promote teacher/parent contact

  • Promote interdisciplinary instruction and employ cooperative learning strategies

  • Help integrate freshmen into the collective student body
