NovaNet Lab Grading Policy & Procedure

• Test grades count 75% while quizzes and worksheets count 25% of the final grade
  
• Pretests are never bypassed and posttests only after 3 student attempts to satisfy NovaNet standards have failed & the student has a passing score
  
• If the student chooses to be bypassed after three posttests, then the highest grade (over 70) is used to score the test. Do not assign a grade
  
• Time will be determined by time in lesson for the given period of attendance
  
• Averaging policy:
  
  • Continuation credit - (65-69 failing average) approx.35 hours - NovaNet average counts 1/3 and school average counts 2/3 in determining new final average
    
  • Continuation credit - (60-64 failing average) approx. 52.5 hours - NovaNet average counts ½ and school average counts ½ in determining new final average.
    
  • Repeat (retrieval) credit - (90 hours) - only NovaNet average is used
    
  • New course credit - (120) - NovaNet average is used
    
• Grades and time records will be compiled by the NovaNet supervisiors using the requirments specified by the type of coursework using the program spreadsheet.
  
• Completion notices will be made by the CEC, approved by the CEC Principal, and forwarded to the home school
  
• Franklin County Schools attendance policy will be followed allowing 11% of the assigned time for absences before failure due to absences is applied for dismissal
  
• Taking notes is highly encouraged, in fact in some courses students will find it is almost mandatory if they expect to pass the posttest. Students may use any notes that they have taken on any lesson, quiz, or posttest review
  
• If a glitch or mistake in the program is observed, bypass the student without assigning a grade and make a note of the problem and action to forward to the NovaNet manager
  
• NovaNet is an opportunity afforded a student; if appropriate behavior and attendance is not maintained the student will be denied the privilege of continuing by the Principal to make room for others wishing to take advantage of the opportunity
